AAA Hawaii: Gas Prices Inch Up Or Stay Steady

Gas prices moved up by a penny or remained the same in local areas over the past week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s statewide average price for regular unleaded is $3.28 a gallon, which is unchanged from last Thursday.

In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular unleaded is $3.10, which is the same as last week, two cents higher than last month, and 44 cents lower than the price on this date last year. The Hilo average gas price is $3.50, which is one cent higher than last week, two cents higher than last month, and 27 cents less than on this date a year ago. 

In Kahului, the average price is $3.50, which is one cent less than last week, two cents lower than last month, and 34 cents lower than on this date a year ago. Lihue’s average price for regular is $3.62, which is one cent higher than a week ago and last month and 25 cents lower than a year ago today. 

“Hawaii’s statewide average gasoline price, while hovering in the same price range for many weeks, is nearly a dollar a gallon higher than the national average and nine cents above the California average,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaii general manager.
