Gas prices mainly held steady throughout the state in the past week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. The statewide average price for regular unleaded is $4.68, which is the same as last week. The national average gas price is $3.09, which is one cent higher than last week.
In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular unleaded is $4.53, which is the same as last week, one cent lower than last month and 39 cents lower than the price on this date last year. The Hilo average gas price is $4.78, which is also the same as last week, five cents higher than last month and 17 cents lower than on this date a year ago.
In Kahului, the average price of $4.80 is one cent lower than last week, two cents lower than last month and 19 cents lower than a year ago. Lihue’s average price for regular is $5.19, which is one cent lower than last week, six cents lower than last month and 22 cents lower than a year ago.
“Nationally, gasoline supply levels are higher, which has helped gas prices to either hold steady or decrease,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaii general manager.
