Hawaii’s gas prices have not had one week of substantial increases in 2023 and again dropped throughout most areas of the state last week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. The average regular unleaded gas price for Hawaii is $4.82, which is two cents lower than last week. The average national price is $3.44, which is also two cents lower than last Thursday.
In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular unleaded is $4.72, which is three cents lower than last week, eight cents lower than last month, and 28 cents lower than the price on this date last year. The Hilo average gas price is $4.81, which is two cents lower than last week, six cents lower than last month, and 30 cents lower than on this date a year ago.
In Kahului, the average price of $4.89 is one cent lower than last week, two cents lower than last month and 31 cents lower than a year ago. Lihue’s average price for regular is $5.28, which is two cents higher than last week, two cents lower than last month, and one cent higher than a year ago.
“Oil prices are continuing to trade at their lowest levels since late 2021 and that has helped to keep downward pressure on gas prices,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaii general manager. “Today, Hawaii’s state average is just one cent below that of the highest priced state of California.”
