Gas prices have slightly decreased in most local areas for the week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. The statewide average price for regular unleaded is $4.70, which is the same as last week. The national average gas price is $3.54, which is one cent higher than last week.
In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular unleaded is $4.56, which is one cent lower than last week and one cent lower than last month, and 16 cents lower than the price on this date last year. The Hilo average gas price is $4.78, which is three cents lower than last week, and last month, and three cents lower than last year.
In Kahului, the average price of $4.79 is three cents higher than last week, two cents lower than last month, and 11 cents lower than a year ago. Lihue’s average price for regular is $5.19, which is one cent lower than last week, one cent lower than last month, and eight cents lower than a year ago.
“Gas prices in Hawaii continue to remain mainly steady so far this year,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaii general manager.
