The AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch indicates gas prices are gradually dropping in many cities statewide. The statewide average price for regular unleaded is $4.59, one cent lower than last week and 25 cents lower than a year ago. The national average gas price is $3.21, two cents higher than last week.
In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular unleaded gas is $4.47, the same as last week and 26 cents lower than last year. The Hilo average gas price is $4.77, two cents lower than last week and 21 cents lower than a year ago.
The average price in Kahului is $4.63, which is three cents lower than last week and 19 cents lower than a year ago. Lihue’s average regular price is $5.21, two cents lower than last week and nine cents lower than a year ago.
"Gas prices are experiencing a slight decline, although there are minor fluctuations in some areas," said Liane Sumida, general manager of AAA Hawaii. AAA members can take advantage of discounted gas prices at participating Shell gas stations by joining the Shell Fuel Rewards® program
