Gas prices posted significant drops for the second week in Honolulu and also dropped throughout the islands, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. The average regular unleaded gas price for Hawaii is $4.77, which is five cents lower than last week. The average national price is $3.57, which is eight cents lower than last Thursday.
In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular unleaded is $4.64, which is six cents lower than last week, seven cents lower than last month, and 53 cents lower than the price on this date last year. The Hilo average gas price is $4.91, which is six cents lower than last week, three cents lower than last month, and 18 cents lower than on this date a year ago.
In Kahului, the average price of $4.80 is three cents lower than last week and last month, and 53 cents lower than a year ago. Lihue’s average price for regular is $5.28, which is two cents lower than last week, four cents lower than last month, and 26 cents lower than a year ago.
“Despite global tensions, gas prices are dropping throughout much of the U.S., as is traditionally the case during the last few months of the year,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaii general manager.
