Gas prices moved by a penny or less over the last week throughout most of the islands, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s statewide average price for regular unleaded is $3.26 a gallon, which is down a penny from last week, according to GasPrices.AAA.com.

In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular unleaded is the same as last week at $3,08, which is one cent higher than a month ago and 46 cents lower than the price on this date last year. The Hilo average gas price is $3.49, which is one cent less than last week, one cent more than a month ago and 29 cents less than on this date a year ago.

In Kahului, the average price is $3.52, which is one cent higher last week, also one cent higher than last month, and 32 cents lower than on this date a year ago. Lihue’s average price for regular is $3.61, which is one cent lower than a week ago, two cents lower than last month and 26 cents lower than a year ago today.

“This week, Hawaii began accepting travelers from Japan as well as the United States with a pre-flight negative COVID-19 test, which should increase tourism and gasoline demand,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaii general manager. “However, worldwide oil prices remain low, so we have not seen significant price increases at the pump.”

Motorists can find current gas prices along their route with the free AAA Mobile app for iPhone, iPad and Android. The app can also be used to map a route, find AAA discounts, book a hotel and access AAA Roadside Assistance. Learn more at AAA.com/Mobile.
